Indian consumers chose their favorite and most trusted brands for online shopping, booking online tickets, etc. among Indian and foreign brands – as per the findings of a survey by YouGov. YouGov surveyed 1,017 respondents aged 18 to 40(+) in August 2019 and here are the findings:
In this survey, the participants were asked to choose between 76 brands across 5 categories: e-commerce, online payments, online travel booking, cab-services and telecom services.
“While Indians are more trusting of global brands in areas of online shopping and e-commerce, Indian brands are more reliable when it comes to making online payments, for online travel bookings and while choosing a mobile network provider,” the survey read.
Within 4 years of being in service, Reliance Jio has been voted as the most trusted telecom service provider with 41% votes. Jio has probably won millions of hearts by the cheap data and call rates that they offer to its consumers. Indian brand Airtel was voted as the second most trusted brand. UK-based Vodafone has been the third most trusted brand.
For online shopping, Amazon emerged as the winner in the online retail stores with 45% votes, whereas its biggest competitor Flipkart got 25% trust votes.
In terms of online transactions and e-wallet services, Paytm was the obvious category-winner with a vote share of 40%. Google Pay stood second with 27% votes, in this category.
As far as app-based cal-cab services are concerned, both San Francisco-based Uber Technologies and Bengaluru-based Ola emerged as winners. For online travel bookings, MakeMyTrip was trusted by 34% of Indians, followed by Paytm (17%), and Goibibo (6%).
