Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success”.
Does Indian skipper, the fireball, Virat Kohli believe this? It’s looking like that he does!
Just when the men in blue take on Sri Lanka in the five-match ODI series, it’s heartening to see Virat Kohli coming out to validate former skipper MS Dhoni’s importance for the team. He believes that the ongoing series with Sri Lanka and the forthcoming ones against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka for the second time will allow enough opportunity for MS to regain his sheen and also help the team to get settled before taking on South Africa in January-February, 2018. Now that he doesn’t play Test Cricket anymore, the forthcoming ODI tournaments become more significant for him - thinks Kohli.
In recent times, MS Dhoni’s batting form has been under the scanner and a lot has been said about him being a burden on the team. Of late the World Cup winning team's skipper was questioned about his ability to stay up until the end to finish the game. Questions were on whether or not he should stay put till 2019 World Cup.
Meanwhile, after a comfortable nine wicket win against Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Dambulla, Kohli’s men are looking forward to repeat the act when they play the second ODI at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, today.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to be favored by the captain to open the bowling as he has the ability to swing the ball and can bowl over 135 kph, believes Kohli. Skipper also thinks that he is in a better position to get an extra bounce because of his height.
In the first ODI, India secured a comfortable win against Sri Lanka by chasing a modest 217 run target. Team India reached the target in the 29th over riding on Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 132 and Virat’s not-out 82, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Here are the teams for the 2nd ODI
