Haryana’s 20 year old Medical student, Ms. Manushi Chillar makes India proud by bringing back the Miss World Title; 17 years after Priyanka Chopra brought home the coveted title in the year 2000.
Andrea Meza, who is Miss Mexico, was the first runner up and Stephanie Hill from England was second runner up. Around 108 women from across the world participated in the beauty pageant.
In the top five rounds, Ms. Chhillar was asked which profession according to her deserved the highest salary. To which she replied, “I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary it’s not always about cash but I feel it’s the love and respect that you give to someone. My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life.
“All mothers sacrifice so much for their kids. So, I think it is the job of a mother that deserves the highest salary,” Manushi said to a wide-applause.
Manushi is the sixth Indian to win the coveted crown, which was first won by Reita Faria back in 1966. She is a trained Indian classical dancer who also enjoys painting and hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural areas, according to the Miss World website.
